Assistive Technology
Children and adults with complex communication needs (little or no verbal speech) will typically require an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) system to help them communicate with others.
‘AAC’ encompasses all of the ways that someone communicates besides talking. This may include gesture and signing, written communication, and picture symbols.
Our experienced and highly trained clinicians can provide in-depth assessment, trial and prescription of a personalised AAC system to suit our clients’ individualised and complex needs. We have experience following all NDIS AT guidelines and providing the required reports.
We can provide ongoing training and support with clients and the team around them, to use the AAC systems they have to communicate at their highest potential.
Systems we have experience with supporting include, but are not limited to:
- Switch access AAC systems
- Eye gaze technology
- PODD® systems (direct and alternate access)
- Proloquo® and Proloquo2Go®
- LAMP Words for Life®
- iPad based AAC apps
- Low-tech communication books and visuals
- Key Word Signs
